MARANTA LEMON & LIME

The lemony yellow and lime green hues of the Maranta Lemon & Lime make it a real show stopper. So much so that I often put them in the window as they do such a great job of enticing people into the shop.

WATER
Water when the top 5cm to 10cm of soil is dry. They do not like to dry out completely but can be susceptible to root rot if the soil is left too soggy.

LIGHT
Bright indirect are best for Maranta but they can tolerate some shade. Avoid getting direct light onto the leaves as this will burn them.

FERTILISING
Feed once a month with diluted standard houseplant fertiliser during the Spring and Summer months.

SOIL
Maranta like a loose soil for their delicate roots, but one that also retains moisture. Visit our soil bar for Vermiculite, Perlite and Coco Coir to add to a standard houseplant mix.

TEMPERATURE
As long as they are kept away from open winter windows and hot radiators normal household temperatures are fine for Marantas.

HUMIDITY
Maranta's like higher humidity. Group together with other plants or place on a pebble tray.

TOXICITY
Maranta are considered non toxic to animals and humans.

General Watering Tips

Place your plant, still in its plastic nursery pot, inside the decorative pot you've chosen. This setup allows the plant to enjoy the drainage and airflow provided by the nursery pot's holes, which are beneficial for root health.

When it’s time to water, you have two options:

1. Top Watering: Take the plant, nursery pot and all, out of the decorative pot and water it over a sink. Allow the water to drain completely before placing it back in the decorative pot to prevent water build up.

2. Bottom Watering: Place the nursery pot in a shallow dish of water and let the plant absorb moisture from the bottom. This method encourages the roots to grow downward and reduces the risk of overwatering.

Both methods help keep your plant healthy by promoting good drainage and root aeration.
